Dramatically Different

October 26, 1997 — February 1, 1998
Magasin, Grenoble (France)

This exhibition — curated by me, Éric Troncy, and Yves Aupetitallot — aimed to investigate curatorial practices by creating unexpected associations with artworks that would form “disrespectful collages regardless of time and space.” The show included works by John Armleder, Angela Bulloch, César, Sylvie Fleury, Katarina Fritsch, Dan Graham, Duane Hanson, Jim Isermann, Sarah Jones, Pierre Joseph, On Kawara, Jeff Koons, Bertrand Lavier, Louise Lawler, Larry Mantello, Allan McCollum, Paul McCarthy, Sarah Morris, Ugo Rondinone, Tobias Rehbergerger, Alain Séchas, Haim Steinbach, Swetlana & Plamen, Lily Van Der Stokker, and Andy Warhol. From a curatorial point of view, I consider this exhibition one of the most provocative, amusing, and joyful shows I have ever curated. It became one of the most visited exhibitions in the history of the Magasin. Though most participating artists (and artists in general) probably hated it, as a curator, I had a ball!
