I curated a series of site-specific projects for the Clocktower Gallery, hosted on the top floor of the 19th century McKim, Mead & White building in Lower Manhattan. In 1971, Brendan Gill and Alanna Heiss founded the Institute for Arts and Urban Resources, dedicated to recuperating and renovating old abandoned buildings in New York and converting them into exhibition spaces. The Clocktower Gallery opened in 1972 (a year after the opening of P.S.1 in an abandoned public school in Long Island City). It became a leading organization in NY’s downtown alternative art scenes hosting hundreds of exhibitions, performances, and events until 2008.
